EVENT DETAILS FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY, 2023

1. Christmas and New Year Celebration

MBA III Semester students have taken an initiative to conduct the Christmas and New Year Celebration on 6 th January, 2023.Students of 3 rd Semester MBA decorated the open space in 3 rd floor M Block with the lights and Christmas tree. Students Played one of the most popular games “Secret Santa”. The game was played by both students and faculty. The Game went on well with lot of fun and Joy, in the Department under the guidance of Dr. Sahana Madan , HOD of the Department. The New Year cake and eateries for the students and faculty members were ordere and Everyone was happy and exchanged the gifts share the joy and welcome the New year 2023. All were in a delightful and cheerful mood with Red and White dress code to add charm to the event. The Department gifted Ms Mary Reena, Office Executive and Attender Neelamma with new year gifts.

2. Makara Sankranti Celebration

The students and faculty members of Management Studies of Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management celebrated Sankranti festival on 13th of January 2023. The event was inagurated by HOD. MBA and Faculty and students with Lighting a lamp and invocation song by Ms.Sneha and Event organized and coordinated by Ms Rajitha, Ms.Spoorthy, Mr. Suhas Reddy and all other student volunteers of class. This event was held from 1:30pm to 3:30pm which had fun and culture orienting activities.

Events and Activities for the year 2022

1. MOU’s

Memorandum of Association (MOU) between Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management, Department of MBA with EDQI is intended to conduct a value added course Project Management for the students of 3rd semester. Date- 5th January, 2023.

Certified Training Programs/ Courses

1.CII-Supply Chain Management Sessions

a. Mr Chandramoulli R, General Manager at Mahindra Logistics is the Trainer for the course. He has 40 Years of Experience - In Finance and Costing in GKW, Planning, Procurement, Inventory, EXIM, Ancillary units’ management In Electronics Industry, Consolidation & Distribution in Retail set up, Production Management in Auto OEM, Sr. Consultant, Counsellor and Trainer in CII Institute of Logistics and Currently working with Mahindra Logistics Ltd, Heading - Academy, Business Excellence and Safety.

b. Supply chain Management by CII IL Academy Mr. Vallinayagam T, member of CII IL Academic Advisory Board is the resource person for the workshop. He has twenty-five years of experience as Divisional Head in Forbes Marshall and Divisional Head-Oil and Gas Mechanical in unit of Zubair Group of Companies in Muscat Oman. Vallinayagam has headed Export Oriented Units in Chennai.

C. Department of Management Studies in association with EDQI planned for Value added Coursed for III Semester MBA. Mr. Bohith K Surthy, Mr. Manas & their team members discussed the importance of having the Google Certified Courses on 15th December 2022.

2.Industrial Visits

4th semester students visited Ashok Leyland on 23rd June 2022.

2nd semester students visited Ashok Leyland on 26th August 2022.

3. National Conference

NCCSTM-2022, organized by Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management on 28th June 2022.

4.Institute Level Activities

a.Thought Leader Speaker Series “The Future of Grocery Retail in India” by Mr.Gulshan Sharma on 2nd July 2022.

b.The Happiness Project: A Mental Health Awareness Initiative Dr. Sandhya, the resource person engaged the session with briefing about the meaning and importance of Mental Health on 18th August 2022.

5.Workshops and Seminars

a.Workshop on Introduction to HR Audit by Mr. N. K. Sundaram was conducted for both the 4th and 2nd Semester students on 6th July 2022.

b. HR Workshop Campus to Corporate was conducted by Mrs. Reena Williams on 9th July 2022.

c.HR Workshop End to End Recruitment was conducted by Mrs. Triveni P on 9th July 2022.

d.Department of Management Studies under the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) has conducted a seminar on Innovation/Prototype Validation-converting Innovation into a start-up. Mr N Venkatesh, Strategic Management consultant and Corporate Trainer on 15th July 2022.

e.Department of Management Studies has conducted a ‘Workshop On Recent Market Trend’. Mr. Prasanth Palakkadiyil, Founder and Chief Strengths Facilitator is a multifaceted visionary having 27 years of multi-sectoral national and international exposures on 17th August 2022.

6.Faculty Accomplishments

a.Sagar Taranga Finance Event Inauguartion: Dr. Sahana Madan, Professor and HOD, Department of MBA, DSATM along with Dr. Veena K.N, Principal, DSBA, Ingaurated ‘Sagara Taranga’ Management Fest hosted by Dayanand Sagar Academy of Technology and Management, Bangalore on 28th and 29th July, 2022. Dr. Sahana Madan shared insights on important roles fests have been playing in one student’s life and emphasised on the growing consensus that a Management festival is not just about fun but that it also augments a student’s learning experience.

b.Dr. Sahana Madan, Professor and HOD, Department of MBA was Invited as a Resource Person for the New Batch of Bridge BBA/BCOM orientation on Human Resource Management on 12th September, 2022. The insights and interactive session revolved around orienting students on the Evolving role and changing nature of HRM in the changing times as the world of human resource management is changing more rapidly than we can imagine.

c.Dr.Sahana Madan, Professor and HOD , Department of Management studies, DSATM was invited as Resource Person for conducting a Two Day workshop on Soft Skills for Non- Teaching Staff of Nitte Meensakshi Institute of Technology on 12-13th October, 2022.

d. Dr.Sahana Madan, Professor and HOD, Department of Management Studies was invited as Session Chair and Track Judge at the International Conference on Emerging Post Pandemic Trends in Business, Trade and Governance at IFIM College, Bangalore on 28th, October, 2022.

e. Dr.Sahana Madan, Professor and HOD , Department of Management studies, DSATM presented her research paper at 2nd Pritam Singh Memorial Confernce Conference hosted by Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur, (IIMN) between 17th, November, 2022- 19th November, 2022.

f. Dr.Sahana Madan, HOD, Department of MBA was Invited as Session Chair at the International Conference hosted by Department of Management Studies (MBA) at NMIT, NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bangalore in collaboration with Kettering University, Michigan, USA, recently organized ERMA 2022, a 2 day International Conference on Emerging Research in Management & Applications on 24th-26th November, 2022.

g. HEROS OF EDUCATION AWARD 2022- Dr.Sahana Madan, HOD, Department of MBA was awarded with Heros of Education Award by The Trading Minds, Government of India Start-up India Institute for her contribution in the Management Education on 1st November, 2022 during Kannada Rajyotsava Day at Hotel Lalit Ashok, Bangalore.

h.Mrs. Rachana.D, Assistant Professor is NSS co-ordinator from our department. Organized and participated in Kannada Rajyotsava Celebrations of DSATM.

i.Mrs. Rachana D, Assistant Professor, MBA Department participated in the one-week International Virtual FDP on “Restructuring Management Education towards Innovation” From Enhancement to Transformation” organized by the Department of Business Administration, V O Chidambaram College, Thoothukudi from 27th June 2022 to 3rd July 2022 and one week FDP on “Discovering Statistics Effective Research” from 18th to 22nd July 2022 at MBA department, DSATM.

7.Students Activity and Accomplishments

a. On 23.07.2022 the students from 2nd semester, arranged a farewell party in the title called “THE ENCHANTING EVENING-2K22” with theme PROM NIGHT at Aphi-theatre, DSATM 4PM onwards to the final year outgoing students.

e.“RUN WITH SOLDIERS” is an event organized by “SHE FOR SOCIETY” a NGO on 14th August 2022 at St. Joseph Indian Primary School, 23, Vittal Mallaya Road, Bangalore. Having theme to set up skill oriented Computer Training centres for Armed Forces families in Mysore and Dharwad.

8.Academic Audit

a.LIC visit was scheduled on 19th July 2022 to inspect the functioning of the MBA department. Mr.Srinivas Naik, Member, LIC Committee visited the department at 11:30 am. Dr. Sahana Madan,HOD & Professor, Faculty Members namely Dr. Praveen, Dr.Anjana ,Dr. Divya and Mrs. Rachana were the department presentees , Academic documents were inspected and relevant information were shared to the committee member.

9.Alumni Interactions

a.Ms. SANGEETHA G spoke about course certification pertaining to specializations students will elect. She shared details regarding various internship opportunities for students.

b.Mr. Arpith Kumar spoke about the challenges faced by an entrepreneur to set up the business and to avail investments.

c.We had invited Mr. Shashi Kumar P L as Alumni Guest for an interaction with our 3rd semester MBA students regarding the trends in consumer banking industry.
