In pursuance of its action plan for performance evaluation, assessment & accreditation & quality up-gradation of institutions of higher education, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore proposes that every accredited institution should establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure. Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC will become a part of the institution’s system & work towards realisation of the goals of quality enhancement & sustenance. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent & catalytic improvement in the overall performance of institutions. For this, during the post-accreditation period, it will channelize all efforts & measures of the institution towards promoting its holistic academic excellence.

To make quality the defining element of higher education in India through a combination of self and external quality evaluation, promotion and sustenance initiatives.

Mission

  • To arrange for periodic assessment and accreditation of institutions of higher education or units thereof, or specific academic programmes or projects.
  • To stimulate the academic environment for promotion of quality of teaching- learning and research in higher education institutions;
  • To encourage self-evaluation, accountability, autonomy and innovations in higher education;
  • To undertake quality-related research studies, consultancy and training programmes, and
  • To collaborate with other stakeholders of higher education for quality evaluation, promotion and sustenance.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

Preface

Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management has a learner centric environment and caters to the diverse academic requirements of students through quality and value driven education. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of DSATM continually works towards providing quality inputs on campus. All initiatives of the IQAC have proved to be immensely gratifying and beneficial to students and faculty members. The IQAC plays a crucial role in ensuring quality in administrative and academic units of the Institution. The IQAC continuously reviews the functioning of the various departments and facilitates necessary changes as and when required

IQAC at DSATM

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was established at DSATM on 15th December 2017 as a quality enhancement & sustenance measure in pursuance of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Action plan. IQAC team works coherently towards realization of the goals of Continuous improvement and sustenance. Primary objective of IQAC is to develop a system which will consciously and consistently work towards catalytic improvement in the overall performance at DSATM through internalization and institutionalization of quality improvement initiatives. IQAC-DSATM is a facilitative and participative voluntary system which will involve all the stakeholders concerned to augment performance of the institution by creating a sense of belongingness in them. It is a conduit to usher in quality enhancement by removal of inadequacies through appropriate strategic

Objectives

  • Ensure a mechanism to promote conscious, consistent and effective action to improve the academic curriculum, research activity and administrative performance of the institution.
  • ICT enabled methods in teaching, learning and evaluation process through quality related activities including adoption and dissemination of best practices.
  • Provide curiosity, persistence, creativity, critical thinking and collaborative learning environment to the students and train them with global perspective and social responsibility
  • Setup state-of-art infra structure facilities through fundings and industry collaborations.

Outcomes

  • Develop an industry need based curriculum aiming for autonomous, upgrade faculty qualification, improved number of quality publications and inculcating the blend of research among the students.
  • Enhance the life-long learning capability, improve skills and competencies in the courses by attaining better performance in CIE and SEE, leading to domain specific placement opportunities with a holistic development of the student.
  • Design and development of student projects that address the needs of industry, social, and sustainable environment through Students exchange program with other national and international institutions/universities.
  • Establish centre of excellence, execute consultancy projects and setup incubation centre

Strategies

IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for

  • Ensuring clarity and focus in institutional functioning towards quality enhancement and enables the stakeholders “re-think” on the current functioning,
  • Create internalization of the quality education culture in higher education institutions,
  • Ensure enhancement and coordination among various activities of the institution and institutionalize all good practices,
  • Provide a sound basis for decision-making to improve institutional functioning,
  • Act as a dynamic system for quality changes in HEIs,
  • Build an organised methodology of documentation and internal communication

Functions of IQAC

IQAC will act as a nodal agency for

  • Development and application of standardized formats and quality parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution
  • Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process
  • Facilitate and monitor course related activities such as course delivery plan, pedagogical and assessment methods, assignments, course creative assignment, quality of CIE question paper and assignment questions
  • Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education
  • Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles
  • Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes
  • Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement
  • Development and maintenance of institutional database through ERP for the purpose of maintaining/enhancing the institutional quality
  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC
